Strikeouts on the Rise
Strikeout rates have been trending upward for most of the past century and there were more strikeouts in 2012 than at any other time in major league history. The New York Times plotted the number of strikeouts per game per team in a timeline from 1900 to 2010 and highlights some key events that might have influenced the numbers, such as US's entry in World War I, players' return from World War II, or reports on steroids. It is possible to filter by team and consequently compare with the other teams.
