Shipmap

Shipmap maps the movements of the global merchant fleet over the course of 2012 (routes, individual ships, or both). The map is paired with a timeline at the bottom, which advances as the animation is played and, if the user chooses to click on the play button, the map is automatically zoomed to zones of high activity at that time. The user can also pan and zoom freely, and skip back and forward in time using the timeline. Additionally, the users can see a few statistics such as counters for emitted CO2, number of containers, quantity of dry, gas and liquid bulk, and number of vehicles.
