The Carbon Map

Cartograms are not always easy to understand because they distort the geometry or space of the map. However this type of map is quite efficient to convey the information of a quantitative variable in a map, and in this case avoid that small countries which are big polluters look less prominent than big countries. "The Carbon Map" changes the sizes of countries depending on actual land area; total population in 2013; total GDP; CO₂ emissions from oil, coal and gas extracted in 2013; annual CO₂ emissions from fossil fuel use and cement production in 2013; etc.
