A Breathing Earth

"A Breathing Earth" is an animated map that visualizes the seasonal cycles through all 52 weeks of 2016. This beautiful map, composed of 50.000 circles, all animated separately shifting between different sizes, colors and opacities, makes noticeable: the rise and fall of the growing season in the Northern Hemisphere and the reverse cycle in the Southern Hemisphere; the dry season before the monsoons; the areas that stay arid all year round; etc. "A Breathing Earth" was created using data from the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).
