Mapping Inequality: Redlining in New Deal America
"Mapping Inequality: Redlining in New Deal America" is a visualization that allows online access to the national collection of "security maps" and area descriptions produced by the study of New Deal America, the federal government, housing, and inequality for the twenty-first century (Home Owners' Loan Corporation or HOLC). This map, that took a team of scholars at four universities seven months to build, makes it easier to see, in high-resolution, that portrait of the racism and discrimination that has shaped American housing policy.
