Impact of the Oscars Nominations

This visualization intends to show if getting an Oscar nomination for Best Picture has a direct effect on profits. Each bar represents a percentage of profit for a film. When the user rolls over a bar he/she can see other two highlighted bars in addition to the one he/she hovered: the first represents the percentage of profit before the nomination, the second represents the percentage of profit after the nomination (before the ceremony), and the third bar represents the percentage of profit after the ceremony. The films are divided in 3 categories: huge, moderate, and almost no impact.
