A Day in the Life of Americans

This visualization illustrates a person’s entire day patterns, using data from the American Time Use Survey. The people are represented by dots and grouped according to the activity they are doing at a given time. When they change activities the dot moves to the center if there is some travel time or to the group of the activity that they will do next.
