Fatal Force
The Post found that in 2015, on-duty police officers shot and killed 990 people nationwide and created a national database that they used to illustrate how often and why police shoot to kill. For this work The Washington Post has won the Pulitzer Prize for national reporting. This is the 2016 visualization created using this database and is constantly being updated.
