Workers’ Comp Benefits: How Much is a Limb Worth?

This visualization by ProPublica reveals that individual states disagree wildly on the value of the compensation that the worker should receive if he/she suffers a permanent injury on the job. Benefits for the same body part can differ dramatically depending on the state. The visualization allows the users to see the maximum amount each state will compensate workers for the loss of an arm, leg, hand, thumb, index finger, middle finger, ring finger, pinky, foot, big toe, eye, ear, or testicle. The user can also see how each individual state compares to the national average.
