Evolving sports

In the early 20th century, the Olympics absorbed an organization of winter sports known as the Nordic Games. Some sports have remained since the first official Winter Olympics in 1924, while others, such as the winter pentathlon, have come and gone. This visualization shows the history/evolution of the Winter Olympics by showing which sports were abandoned, which were introduced, and how they evolved in terms of number of participants (both female and male).
